…Throwback Thursday

#tbt

Thanks to the flourishing social media of Instagram and Twitter, today (and every Thursday, for that matter) has been dubbed #tbt or #throwbackthursday. Urban Dictionary defines throwback as “a sudden reminder from the past”, and therefore Thursday is the day of each week when millions take the opportunity to post an old photo or memory. Sometimes the throwback evokes nostalgia; sometimes it brings about a good laugh. Yet, at other times it may cause us to question our younger selves, “why?!” and simply make us grateful for our current level of maturity.

In spite of the trendiness of social media, the joy that so many find in taking a stroll down memory lane  is not a new concept. Being this intentional in reflecting on the past has proven to be beneficial and is frankly, highly encouraged.

But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. Psalm 77:11 (NLT)

This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Lamentations 3:21 (NKJV)

Take a moment today to recall just seven (if you can stop there) of the bajillion things that God has done for you, your family, your friends or a person that you don’t even know personally. I challenge you to think about the good that occurred years ago, and to additionally be mindful of the good that occurred just yesterday, last week and even this morning. We are loved. We are cared for. We are provided for. We are breathing in this moment, and in itself, that is one of His wonderful deeds.

Remind yourself of His amazing works; it will stir and increase the joy, peace, love, faith and hope in you. If He did it then, He will do it again.

Jesus be a throwback Thursday, everyday.

  1. This might be one of my favorite posts! You’re always so on time. This week my focus has been on having a spirit of praise and gratitude. My only points of prayer have been to thank the Lord for all He has done and is doing in my life.
    1. His love; sacrificing His son for us;
    2. Peace
    3. Joy
    4. Blessing me with amazing family and friends
    5. His constant provision in the form of my new home, my job, my spiritual family and foundation, food, my wardrobe etc.
    6. My spiritual gifts and talents
    7. Most importantly my relationship with Him.

    SH.
